Sleep Position and Personality-Critical Thinker
I love reading stuff like this. But although I think it's really cool, i'm not quite sure I buy any of it. There are so many things that can affect the way we sleep. The simplest explanations can be found in the contour of the bed, the environment in which we are sleeping, or how our bodies feel( sore, tired) on a given evening. Also, psychologically, we can change our movements based on how we feel in a given moment, or if in sleep, if we have a particular type of dream. Also, many times I personally do not sleep the same way each night. It's not a planned thing, it just happens. It's cool that there is at least a superficial link, though.
Naps Boost Memory
I found it interesting in this piece that the brain can enter into deep sleep, slow-wave, even in a power nap. Is there not a set time in the cycle in which the brain reaches this point? I'd like to see if there really are trends in time intervals of stages, or if the scientists are just throwing darts into the dark. The fact that naps are positive is fairly obvious. I find it especially helpful to takes naps when trying to retain information. You study it, then go into a period without interruption. Just logical, really.
Time to Wake Up to the Facts About Sleep
I like this aritcle. Disproves my mother who says I don't sleep enough each night. When discussing obesity, it was refreshing to see some cynacism. I wonder if more sleep is actually worse...
Good Grades=Good Sleep
No, really? Heck, I can't keep my eyes open in psych, which means I don't listen, which means I do worse. College kids are free for the first time in their lives, and that doesn't spell out positive behavior and super sleeping habbits. I'd rather party than nap, and most are the same. But, the thing about sleep and remembering is really only true if you have a moderate grasp on the material already( personal experience). I'm not sure a nap and a stress free environment wouldn't do almost the same thing.
God I am SO TIRED right now
