I started this blog more than a year ago out of necessity. My AP psych teacher my senior year of high school let us spread our wings a bit, but mostly it was monotonous regurgitation of articles that I'd read or videos I'd viewed on an assortment of psych topics. Now that I have moved on from my high school days, and I am bored off of my ass without a job this summer, I decided to get back on the keyboard and bore you all with my new adventures. With a year of SUNY Geneseo behind me, I guess you could say I'm more worldly and cultured than when I last checked in. That in mind, I am only these things if you consider beer funnels culture and my small upstate town that reeks of shit when they burn whatever they're burning, besides mass amounts of weed, worldly. Being a college student has made me appreciate things at home that I never thought I'd miss. For one, I miss being fit. The freshman 15 is no joke, at least it wasn't for me, and although I have come quite accustom now to stretching my belt loop to one further notch, it'd be great if I didn't have to. Of course, I only have myself to blame, but it would be out of character for me to not point at least a few fingers elsewhere. For one, healthy is not the most attractive adjective to attach to food when I can get a slice of Mia's at 2 a.m. on a Thursday. Who wants carrots when they cost the same as a chipwhich at the dining hall right behind my dorm? To that effect, there's not much else to do sometimes but eat, and of course, drink your face off. Geneseo is 40 minutes from Rochester and light years away from where I thought I'd be at this point in my life. Beer is not without calories, and guess what? Neither are shots! Of course, in all my freshman wisdom, I diluted myself into thinking that a shot of vodka down the hatch is nothing like shotgunning an entire silver bullet in a matter of two seconds. Hello bigger pants, goodbye dignity and good judgment. I was of course, not drunk all of the time. Geneseo is indeed a tough academic haven for those of us who were pumped sunshine up our asses all of high school, and not to mention middle school and elementary school as well. I worked hard, maybe not as hard as the twit with long blond hair who sat in front of me in comparative politics, but hard enough to not be totally ashamed of myself. I found out what I really love and also what I really don't, which I guess is what college is supposed to do. I have firmly set myself on a path in international relations and women's studies, and as much as my male friends snicker, I have decided that I will be the one to save women's lives. Some people don't have a hand to hold and a warm bed to sleep in, so I guess I'll just be an international mama. Although, I'm sure my girlfriends will get a bit jealous. Anyhow, I forgot that blogging is also a bit boring. Until tomorrow.
